Food retailer Weis Markets announced its second 90-day price freeze of the year, which will impact 3,000 items through July 15.

Weis said it has boosted its Price Freeze item count by 600 compared with its initial program, which the company estimates helped shoppers save approximately $5 million.

The current program includes private-label and brand-name products in meat, deli, frozen, center store, dairy, produce and bakery. It is being promoted with print, television and radio ads as well as shelf tags on participating items.

Sunbury, Pa.-based Weis Markets operates 154 stores in Pennsylvania, Maryland, New Jersey, New York and West Virginia.
