United States-Turkey processing plant to close.

UNITED STATES.

POULTRY CLOSURE.

The Nebraska Turkey Growers Cooperation, is going to close down its poultry processing plant in January, with the loss of 225 jobs.

The plant has production for 20,000 turkeys per day, the high cost of fuel and feed are being blamed for the closure.

The plant normally closes for three weeks after the Xmas rush, however in January 2009 the plant will close for good.

Bill Evans the company chairman said "the future is still unknown, restarting the plant again will depend on turkey prices going up".

The Nebraska brand of turkeys is one of the best known brands in the United States.
