Vietnam-Increase in rice exports.
VIETNAM.
NEW TARGET FOR RICE EXPORTS.
The government of Vietnam has raised the target for rice exports in 2009, from 4.5 million tons to 4.8 million tons.
This comes in the wake of increased demand for rice in the sub Sahara nations, due to the restricted rice exports of many countries including Brazil and Thailand, in order to safeguard the domestic market.
While the commodity price drop in the last three months, has seen the market free up, the low cost of shipping currently, means that much more grain and rice will be traded globally in the nest few months.
