Wales-Farmer prosecuted for livestock offences.
WALES.
FARMER PROSECUTED.
A farmer in Gwent was taken to court and prosecuted, in relation to 14 livestock offences concerning, 37 cattle and 380 sheep on his farm last week.
The farmer pleaded guilty to 9 of the charges, and was given a conditional discharge by the Magistrates.
The offences related to the farmers documentation and records of his livestock, according to the Rural Inspectors for Wales, who in fact instigated the charges after several visits to the farm.
The offences included failing to provide an animal inventory, failing to notify deaths of animals, failing to replace old and worn out ear tags, perhaps the most serious and the reason the charges were brought, the obstruction of field officers in the course of their duty.
The conditional discharge is for 3 years.
