Wales-NFU Cymru oppose new sheep ear tags.
UNITED KINGDOM.
FARMERS UNION OF WALES AND SCOTLAND.
The NFU Cymru, are working with their counterparts the NFU in England and Scotland, to survey sheep farmers in the three countries, to determine the impact of the introduction of electronic ear tags (EID), and the viability of the sheep industry in the future.
The individual identities of sheep with an electronic tag will need to be held in registers in the farm office, and all sheep movements recorded.
The sheep population of Wales stands currently at 8.5 million, which is quite a drop from the number in 2007.
Ed Bailey vice president of NFU Cymru, said " As a union we have stood shoulder to shoulder with our colleagues from across the UK over the past year, fighting to scrap the controversial European plans, to electronically tag the nations sheep flock".
We are urging our members to take their time filling in the questionnaire.
