STRATEGY TO SECURE FARMING.
A long term plan has been drawn up to save the future of the Welsh farming industry worth over half a billion dollars a year.
Rural Affairs Minister Elin Jones, said " There are many challenges for the industry, but also many opportunities and its important the industry takes advantage of these".
The minister went on to say, " This is a major industry employing thousands of people in all parts of Wales. Welsh red meat production is worth 361 million pounds a year, which is 43% of the total annual value of the Welsh farm output".
Stock levels are falling in Wales, like many parts of the world, there are 4.2 million breeding ewes, which is a drop of 7% on 2007.
The plan has been drawn for consultation and comments, which are invited before 20 February.
