Argentina - Cattle prices go through the roof
Cattle prices jumped by 30% in Mercado de Liniers on Friday where there were 10,567 head of cattle on offer.
Prime yearlings were making US$120c/kg up from 85c/kg three weeks ago.
The surge in price has no foundation as the home market cannot sustain this big of a jump in price over the weekend for trade next week.
The cow market was also firm for the good cows that go for the local market and the plain cows were up to 40c/kg from 25c/kg last week.
Prime steers US$110c/kg
Yearling steers US$120c/kg
Yearling heifers US$115c/kg
Butchers cows US$85c/kg
Steaker cows US$60c/kg
Bulls US$55c/kg
Manufacturing cows US$40c/kg
The summer calf sales are starting next week and there will be over 5 million calves on offer over the next six weeks.
