GENETIC TESTING STOPS CATTLE RUSTLING.

Cattle rustling is as old as Argentina itself, being a cattle and beef orientated country, however new genetic testing is helping police track down thieves.

Being one of the worlds leading beef exporters, Argentina is famous for its free range beef, that are kept on the paddocks of La Pampas, with minimum fencing as there is so much grass cattle do not have the inclination to wonder.

However there are new moves to create a data base, that will assist the police in catching rustlers, the trials have been successful in 270 cases already.

Even a sirloin steak in a restaurant, will be able to tell you the origin of the animal it came from, it is claimed.

The system has been used in the province of Buenos Aires, with such success it is now going nationwide.

The police say that prior to the system, they could identify suspects but never prove beyond reasonable doubt that the beef in question came from stolen animals.
