ARGENTINA-DROUGHT REDUCES HARVEST.

The drought which has cut the harvest of soy in Argentina, is expected to give its main rival Brazil a larger share of the world market, especially for livestock feed soymeal and cooking ingredients.

Argentina is the top world soy-meal and soy-oil exporter.

The US Agricultural Department slashed its forecasts of Argentina’s soy crop last week from 48,5 million tons to 43 million tons.

The full impact of the drought will not be known far another month when the yields can be weighed, the rain that has come the last week have beef a great benefit, however much damage had already been done to the crops and tilling was curtailed.


Brazils harvest was forecast at 61 million tons but is now back to 57 million tons, rain has also come to Brazil and the nest 30 days are going to be the asset test.

China will be importing around 36 million tons it has been projected, which is down 5% on initial forecasts.

Despite the drought there will be record harvest because of the additional land that has been sown into soy.
