ARGENTINA-FARM STRIKE.

A group of 200 farmers organized a "Sit In" at the Nueva Bersa Bank on Monday, in the city of Parana, which is the capital of the province on Entre Rios.

The protesting farmers handed a document to the manager of the bank, demanding the re-scheduling of the farmers debts.

"It seems like the private banks are unaware we are in a state of emergency", said farm leader Alfredo de Angeli, who appeared to be the mastermind behind the demonstration in his home town.

There are many farmers who have lost their whole harvest, according to the farm leader yet the banks are still charging the farmers at a full rate, despite the government promises of drought assistance.

Interior Minister Florencio Randazzo, said that the action of the farmers was not democratic, as the war of words between government and farmers continues.

Three top front bench politicians in the government, have walked away and joined forces with Carlo Reutermann, who is running for president in 2011.

The former Formula One racing driver and long time politician, is gaining momentum and no longer a side line contender rather a very serious and formidable threat to the government.

In a government statement is stated, "The government is willing to find a solution, bearing in mind that we have different positions concerning certain topics, export duties are not a taboo topic. This is not a government whim, rather its about seeking a fairer country and some people misunderstand that, putting the interests of their rural provinces above the idea of a national project".

There is no doubt that there is a lot of political pandering going on, however the majority of the population have very little interest, this will not be the case if the farmers action effects the food coming into the cities.
