Argentina-Farmers still waiting for government talks.

ARGENTINA-SUNDAY MORNING 15 FEBRUARY.

Farmers lobby groups on Sunday morning complained that they had not been contacted by the government to open talks.

This is contrary to statements issued by the government on Saturday, indicating that a dialogue had begun.

The farmers have demanded that Trade Secretary Guillermo Moreno be excluded from all talks after his hard stance against the farmers in last years dispute.

Farm leader Eduardo Buzzi, seems to be the main speaker on behalf of the farmers groups these days, there are strong rumors about his political ambitions.

Buzzi said in Sunday, " A lot has changed since last year not only were there modifications the grains and oil seed taxes but also dairy and meat".

Farmers have been demanding a drop in export duties since last year.

In the state of Rio Negro, farmers gve away 25 tons of pears on Saturday, as the dispute in the fruit industry continues.

There are 40 million tins of pears that cannot be sold in Argentina, as the export market has dried up since the economic downturn.

There is increasing pressure on the vive President of Argentina, Julio Cobas to resign since h is again taking the side of the farmers against the government.

It was Cobos who brought the farm dispute to an end in 2008, by voting against the proposed new farm tax laws with his casting vote.

That decision while a brave one, made him the most popular politician in Argentina, a point that the government must consider very carefully before taking action against him.
