Argentina-Farmers to meet on Tuesday.
ARGENTINA-FARMERS TO MEET TUESDAY.
The members of the farming organizations liaison committee are scheduled to meet tomorrow at 10am with the leaders of the Unión-PRO coalition, to discuss the situation of the agricultural sector, the Rural Society reported yesterday.
Buenos Aires Mayor Mauricio Macri and Dissident Peronist Deputies Francisco de Narváez and Felipe Solá, who will be candidates for Congress in Buenos Aires province, will meet with the four farm leaders today at the headquarters of the CRA rural confederations, in the City. Solá and De Narváez sided with the farmers last year during the conflict they held with the national government over a hike in export duties, and since then they have been defending their demands.
The lawmakers and the farm leaders will also discuss a document entitled "The farmers’ contribution to politics," which was released by the liaison committee last month. The document comprises the "essential guidelines that, according to the four organizations, should be included in the electoral platforms of the parties and political movements that will run in the June 28 (midterm) elections."
Last week, the farm leaders met with the Civic Coalition and Radical party’s candidates, Margarita Stolbizer and Ricardo Alfonsín.
Meanwhile, De Narváez yesterday participated in the national calf festival, in Ayacucho, Buenos Aires province.
