In the far south of Argentina and Chile, known as the Magallanes Region, the government is promoting rhubarb as an alternative crop, for farmers and market gardeners in the region.

The climate and conditions are perfect for the crop, according to a government survey run by Julio Yagello, who is an expert in the regions geology and soils.

The plan for planting the crop, is getting full support from both the governments of Argentina and Chile.
