Argentina Govt Considers Nationalizing Farm Trade

After taking over the private pension system and the country’s flagship airline, the Argentine government may now have its sights on the biggest prize of all: the vital agricultural sector. The government of President Cristina Fernandez is seriously considering setting up a state-run purchasing monopoly that would effectively nationalize all trade in major farm products, an official at the Production Ministry said Friday.
