Argentina-Politics and Farmers.

ARGENTINA

FARMERS AND POLITICS.

Former president and bitter opponent of the current government, Eduardo Duhalde, said on Monday, that farm leaders must organize themselves as an opposition party to the government.

Duhalde met with 30 farm leaders on in Buenos Aires, he told a press conference, that the farm leaders must form the base of the opposition party in parliament.

FAA farm leader Eduardo Buzzi said, that the farmers may well pick up the challenge and run for election next year, in the mid term elections.

Duhalde is a smooth politician, he was the very man who nominated Nestor Kirchner for President in 2002, however once in power, Kirchner became his own man and sidelined Duhalde.

This loss of face by Duhalde, until then the political power broker in the province of Buenos Aires, along with the loss of his political power base, was the start of a bitter feud between him and the president. The feud which has continued with the presidents wife, Christina Fernandez de Kirchner, the current president of Argentina.
