RUSSIANS INSPECT EXPORT FISH FACILITIES.

A delegation from Russia’s Federal Veterinary Control Service (Rosselkhoznadzor) visited Argentina to inspect the export fishing facilities in Mar de Plata, Argentina’s largest fishing port.

The Russian inspected 3 vessels and 22 fish plants during their visit.

Argentina exported 17,790 tons of fish to Russia in 2007, exports were 6,177 tons in the first 6 months of 2008.

In June of 2008 the Russian government banned exports from selected plants in a similar manner to the recent ban on 80 poultry plants in 8 different countries.

The National Food Safety and Quality Control Service (SENASA) have agreed to forward monthly reports the their Russian counterparts, with an update of inspections and results of testing.
