AUSTRALIA-ALARM OVER NEW BUSH FIRES-
Firefighters tonight are battling to control a major blaze in Melbourne’s east, which injured two CFA volunteers and destroyed property.
Two firefighters were hurt as it burned near hundreds of homes on another tense day of fire danger across the state, the HeraldSun reports.
Two fire trucks from Scoresby and Upper Ferntree Gully brigades were also damaged by the blaze, which ripped through 150ha. Other fires also stretched CFA and DSE resources.
As the fire crisis moved to Melbourne’s doorstep:
A 250ha blaze was burning unchecked near Daylesford.
AN 80,000ha fire near Healesville remained out of control.
WARBURTON residents fled their town as fire threatened.
THE 155,000ha Murrindindi blaze was still burning in bush. THE Wilsons Promontory fire had burnt through 21,000ha.
AN uncontrolled blaze near Woodside in East Gippsland had covered 250ha.
