WELLARD RURAL SPEND $38 MILLION.
Livestock shipping company Wellards Rural, of Perth in Australia, have bought six arable farms in Western Australia for an estimated AU$38 million.
The farms total 17,500 hectares, and are all broad-acre arable farms.
The Wellard company who are the largest livestock exporters in Australia, shipped over 700,000 head of cattle to Indonesia this year, however the new farms will be run as a separate business strictly arable.
Tim McNamara the CEO of Wellards, said "the investment reflects the Wellard Group confidence in the Australian Agricultural industry".
Wellards operate the worlds largest livestock vessels, with sheep to the Middle East and cattle to North Africa and South East Asia.
They opened an office in Brazil earlier this year, to manage their South America operations
