Australia-Beef exports 87% goes to 3 countries.

AUSTRALIA.

87% OF BEEF EXPORTS GOES TO 3 COUNTRIES.

Figures produced by Meat and Livestock Australia last week, show that historically 87 pc of all beef exported goes to Japan 40pc, USA 31pc and South Korea 16pc.

This began to change this year, with the new export market in Russia and emerging markets of Indonesia and the Philippines.

The fact that Brazil and Argentina were out of the market place, for the first half of the year had its part to play in this.

Russia is now the fourth largest market and has taken 70,000 tons of beef already this year.

Indonesia has taken 33,000 tons and the majority of the live cattle from the north of the country.

However the home market, is experiencing a downturn in beef and lamb consumption caused by high prices.

Beef sales are down 6pc and lamb sales down 13 pc for the first half of this year
