BEEF SALES SLUMP IN SOUTH KOREA.

There was a lot of hype from the Meat Livestock Australia (MLA), in recent weeks on how wonderful their marketing was in South Korea over the last five years, which was picked up by the publisher of very well known meat publication in Australia, who said the only gains in Korea were by default of the USA and Canada, who were banned from selling beef for the last 5 years.

The publisher appears to be correct and the crowing from the MLA has come to naught, as beef sales from Australia fell by 44% in December compared with last year and 34% on the sales of November.

Anyone can sell good meat on a good trade, especially with the competitors out of the market. The MLA should have been crowing about the virtues of Australian beef today in regard to safety, quality and reliability, rather than what smart blokes they were yesterday

With the low Australian dollar and the high quality of the grain fed beef, beef sales should have been at least maintained in South Korea.
