AUSTRALIA.
SEX OF CALVES.
The faculty of Veterinary Science, at the University of Sydney, have made a major break-though for the beef and cattle industry, by determining the sex of a calf.
The calf was born on August 10 last year, at the University’s farm outside Sydney. The sperm was able to survive twice freezing and twice thawing out, in the determination of the sex.
This world first, can change the whole face of farming, with dairy farmers choosing heifer calves and the beef industry opting for bull calves.
