Australia-Cargill meat operations back to normal.

AUSTRALIA-CARGILL SHIPPING BEEF TO USA.

Cargill Beef in Wagga Wagga in NSW will resume exports to the United States and Japan , now its licence has been reinstated.

The company’s licence was suspended earlier this month after E-coli were discovered in a small number of containers destined for the overseas market.

Cargill Beef general manager, Andrew Macpherson, can’t say how much the episode cost the company, but says it’s improved the system of tracking meat from the abattoir, and the incident won’t happen again.

"AQIS is comfortable that those processes are now more robust and rigorous and hence the re-establishment of our licence," he says.

"I think what it does show is the robustness of Australia ’s food safety processes and controls."
