Australia-Dairy Farmers selling cows.
AUSTRALIA.
DAIRY CRISIS.
Many dairy farmers in Australia are lining up heifers and first calf cows to be sold to the lucrative export markets for China, Russia and the Middle East.
It was only 3 months ago, that agents could not get enough cattle to fill the vessels, now they have more cattle being offered than you can poke a stick at.
Holstein heifers that were $350 in 2007 have been making $1,400 last year.
The Creameries have pulled back the price of milk by up to 30%, in the wake of the global economic crisis and the export trade being at a standstill.
