AUSTRALIA-RAIN BREAKS THE DROUGHT.

In the last 24 hours much needed rainfall has fallen on some of the worst drought affected areas of New South Wales and Victoria.

WeatherZone has observed a pool of cool air in the upper atmosphere that has slowly drifted over the southeast in the last few days.

It is a relic dropped off by a passing cold front a few days ago and is responsible for the widespread storms.

Parts of NSW, in particular the the far west and the Murray-Darling have received some decent falls.

Broken Hill had last night received 14mm in 24 hours, their first rain in three weeks and heaviest since December.

Menindee grabbed 22mm, their heaviest March rainfall in 10 years.

In Victoria, Mildura received its heaviest rain this year, but only 3mm.

The good news for Mildura and many farmers looking to the skies wondering if there will be more, is that there will be..

Another trough is brewing over South Australia and is due to move through the southeast during the week, bringing more storms to parts of Victoria, NSW and SA.
