AUSTRALIA-LIMOUSIN SHOW AND SALE.

LIMOUSINS muscled their way into the auction ring, recording a bull average of $4958 at the breed’s national sale today.

Held at Wodonga, the multi-vendor sale achieved strong commercial and stud support to boost the bull average by $1919 on last year.

Sale summary: 36 head offered, 28 sold, top $11,500, average $4375, gross $122,500.

A total of 12 junior and senior bulls sold from the 16 offered to a top of $11,500 and gross of $59,500.

In the female lots, 16 sold from the 20 offered for a gross of $63,000, top of $6500, and average of $3937.

Tony Iaria, of Bogong View Limousins, Mt Beauty, paid $11,500 for the top price bull, Ramornie Crusader.

Earlier judged as the supreme exhibit, the September 2007 drop black polled bull was sired by Romn Justice and sold by Ramornie Limousin stud, Albury.

Australian Limousin Breeders Society president Andrew Cross described the increased average as a "terrific result".

"’There seemed to be a good contingent of commercial buyers putting a floor in the sale," Mr Cross said.

"Agents said there was a fair bit of pre-sale inquiry and that was really heartening."

Landmark auctioneer Kevin Norris said the result flew against the tide of autumn bull sales.
