AUSTRALIA-MAJOR BEEF PLANT RE-OPENS.

Work at the south-west Western Australian beef processor Harvey Beef will resume today after a nine-day closure.

Harvey Beef announced two weeks ago that it would suspend operations in an effort to clear a backlog of meat, which had built up as a result of the global financial crisis.Producers and market analysts did not welcome the move, expecting the closure to have a major impact on the industry.Harvey Beef says it will not extend its scheduled nine day closure and will reopen its abattoir today.:
