AUSTRALIA-MEAT EXPORTERS AND THE DOLLAR.
Exporters closely watched the Australian dollar slip below 70 US cents this morning.
Brett Stephenson, from AgRisk, says a firming US dollar overnight helped push our currency lower.
While some economists are forecasting the Aussie dollar to drop a long way by early next year, Mr Stephenson says that’s extreme.
"If people think about it from a relative term, there’s nothing worse about Australia’s economy compared to other countries, particularly Europe, and so for us to go to 50 US cents, that would mean there’d have to be an extreme amount of buying of US dollars."
