AUSTRALIA-MORE RAIN MORE FLOODS MORE CHAOS.

Another deluge, this time in the Mackay and Townsville region, has landed on North Queensland, with the Bruce Highway cut as a result.

According to the Department of Emergency Services, severe storms dumped heavy rain along much of the State’s east coast overnight.

The Department says falls of more than 200mm in the Mackay area caused many local roads to flood, including Hospital Bridge on the Pioneer River and the Bruce Highway at Sandy Creek, north of Bowen.

Emergency Management Queensland is continuing to monitor communities out west that have been isolated by floodwaters.

Resupply tasks are continuing to be carried out across the region, with a resupply into Etheridge and Croydon Shire to be undertaken on Saturday.

Flood warnings remain in place for the Burdekin, Haughton, Pioneer, Upper Mackenzie and Connors-Isaacs Rivers and tributaries, the Diamantina, Landsborough, Thomson, Barcoo and Georgina rivers, the Eyre and Cooper Creeks, the Gulf Rivers including the Nicholson, Flinders, Norman and Gilbert River systems.
