AUSTRALES-NEW BIG SQUARE BALER FROM MASSEY FERGUSON.
THIS week’s top buy is a big square baler with a pedigree that goes back to the first machine of its type manufactured in 1978.
On special, WSB Distributors, Clare, is offering a Massey Ferguson 190 LB baler, which has produced only 17,000 bales.
It is priced at $104,500, including GST, and dealer principal Phil Stanway says the one-owner unit is in immaculate condition.
"At our asking price, it represents some pretty big savings and it is the type of baler, turning out 4x4x8 bales, that would suit a new machine buyer," he said.
"It will produce many more thousands of bales for someone looking for a baler at a low price."
Mr Stanway said the Massey Ferguson brand label was from the Hesston factory in the United States.
"Agco, the parent company of Massey Ferguson, bought the Hesston company in 1991," he said.
"WSB Distributors has a long association with Hesston balers, having sold its first machine 30 years ago, long before the Agco link and the re-badging of the machines to Massey Ferguson.
"We believe the baler we sold back in the late 1970s was one of the first Hesston balers sold in this country."
When Hesston developed and introduced the first big square baler in 1978, it took the world by storm.
There was nothing on the market like it.
It changed the industry and opened new export markets for the feedlot industry.
Three decades on, the big balers manufactured by Agco in Hesston, Kansas, continue to lead the industry worldwide.
