Australia-New beef grading system.

AUSTRALIA.

MSA BEEF.

Meat and Livestock Australia (MLA) are reporting that the Meat Standards Australia (MSA) graded beef, is yielding a 10pc price increase over non graded beef.

The beauty of the system is that while more supermarkets and butchers switch to carton beef, the less their staff are aware of animal carcass’s or quality control.

The need for butchers and boners, has been greatly reduced in the retail end of the meat trade, as more boning and processing is now done in the beef plants.

The MSA grading system, ensures that the buyers know exactly what meat is in the carton, as opposed to cow dressed as heifer and heifer dressed as steer.
