Australia-Shark and Chips.
SHARK AND CHIPS.
Young shark has been enjoyed in the Fish and Chip shops of Australia for many years, fried in batter in the same manner as cod in the United Kingdom, it is indeed very tasty albeit a bit chewy.
The name shark is of course never used for obvious reasons. The move by the Federal Government of Australia to limit the shark fishing in Queensland to 600 tons a year, has caused outrage in the seafood industry.
The Queensland Seafood Association, is demanding compensation if the proposed legislation is passed through parliament.
The president of the Association Neil Green, said " Such a move would have a significant impact on the seafood industry and Peter Garret the minister responsible, will have to pull his cheque book out".
Mr Garret a well known environmentalist, like many Australians is probably blissfully unaware of this niche market down at his local chip shop.
