Australia-Shortage of organic grain.
A Western Australian organic grain grower says the industry desperately needs more growers to meet the demand.
Peter Smith grows organic cereal rye and wheat at Watheroo, about 200 kilometres north of Perth.
He says demand is strong from both the domestic and export markets for all types of organic grain.
Mr Smith says he’s regularly approached by both millers and organic livestock producers looking to secure supplies.
"There’s a really good prime APW market at the moment and there’s a noodle market that just requires a minimum of 2000 tonnes a year, and we’d also probably get an inquiry about once a month from a trader who wants to export."
