Australia-Wine exports down.

AUSTRALIA.

EXPORT OF WINE IN TROUBLE.

The global financial crisis has seen a marked decline in the export of win from Australia.

Sales were down by 11% in volume in 2008 and 18% in value from 2007, according to figures released by the Australian Wine and Brandy Corporation.

Australia exported 62% of its wine in 2008, this is unlike Argentina who produces more wine yet consumes a whopping 80% on the home market.

This is a three billion dollar industry in exports alone and the decline is bad for the government as well as the growers.
