Barenbrug appoints new forage manager
Specialist grass seed breeder Barenbrug has appointed a new Scottish regional manager for forage based at the company’s Falkirk facility.
Mhairi Dawson joins the team from a leading Aberdeenshire seed merchant, where she has gained an enviable reputation for understanding her customers’ needs and, as a result, established herself as one of Scotland’s foremost forage grass seed experts.
Hailing from a hill sheep farm in southwest Scotland and having both lived and worked on mixed enterprises, Mhairi believes her strong farming background, together with a degree in Applied Bioscience (Animal Science) from the Scottish Agricultural College, will be of great benefit to her customers. In fact, it was through her personal farming passion – breeding, showing and selling Scottish Blackface sheep and Clydesdale horses – that she first became familiar with Barenbrug.
Commenting on her appointment, Mhairi says: "I feel my theoretical knowledge, industry experience and passion for Scottish agriculture will help me to forge a long and successful career with Barenbrug. I really believe in the product range, having heard very positive reports about the improvements it brings first-hand from farmers switching to Barenbrug throughout my farming career. I’m looking forward to the challenges ahead and working with the region’s farmers to provide them with the very best product advice and support."
Mhairi is joined by an all-new team at the Falkirk facility – colleagues Julia Liddle, customer services manager, warehouse supervisor Raymond Gardiner and warehouse operative Christopher Davidson have been appointed to further strengthen Barenbrug’s specialist service to customers in Scotland. And a familiar face will be looking after the area’s amenity customers – regional sales manager for the north of England and the Borders, David Greenshields, will now be bringing his invaluable technical knowledge and practical greenkeeping expertise to the Scottish team.
