Beef at the Dairy Event and Livestock Show

Beef will come under the microscope in a dedicated exhibition for both commercial producers and pedigree breeders to be staged at the Dairy Event and Livestock Show at Stoneleigh Park , Warwickshire on 16 and 17 September by its organisers the Royal Association of British Dairy Farmers.

The Beef Exhibition developed in association with NBA and sponsored by EBLEX, will focus on areas for cost saving and improved efficiency and feature a variety of exhibits of relevance to all members of the sector from handling and housing to generating added value.

The UK ’s leading beef breed societies will be showcasing the best of their genetics and explaining how each will fit in to optimising a whole farm strategy. In addition, pedigree exhibitors offering semen and embryos will be of interest to overseas visitors expected from more than 30 different countries, each seeking to do business.

EBLEX will stage various features as part of its Better Returns Programme focused on beef from the dairy herd. They will include the use sexed semen and Estimated Breeding Values to make more accurate beef sire selection, along with best practice on calf rearing and diets for mainstream black and white bull beef systems.

"RABDF’s extensive research carried out at previous events has revealed that the majority of our visitors manage more than just dairying as a livestock enterprise; 40% farmed beef cattle and 13% sucklers," explains event manager, Richard Evans. "This year, we are continuing to build the Beef Exhibition and offer features of interest to all beef producers – those with pedigree herds, suckler and finishing enterprises, in order to broaden its scope and enable livestock farmers with multi-species enterprises to obtain all the information they need from attending this one event."
