Branching out live from Llanrwst to Brussels

Members of the Conwy Valley NFU Cymru branches will experience the latest in communication technology when the first live video conference link will be made between the Union’s Llanrwst base and British Agriculture Bureau (BAB) in Brussels.

The end-of-season meeting at Glasdir Centre, Llanrwst on 29 February at 7:30pm will include two expert guest speakers. Sian Davies, Assistant Director at BAB, will be live from Brussels with the latest updates on the Union’s work of lobbying in Europe on behalf of the Welsh farming industry, including the impending Common Agriculture Policy reform, Less Favoured Areas, sheep electronic identification and wider livestock and agri-environment matters. Euryn Jones, HSBC’s newly-appointed Regional Agricultural Manager for Wales, will be discussing current and future financial issues facing the Welsh farming economy.

Llanrwst branch Senior Group Secretary Paul Williams said, "We are delighted to have secured two excellent speakers to address our members, with the added advantage of a live video conferencing facility direct to our Brussels office representatives. The meeting will give our members the opportunity not only to hear but to see and interact with Sian and Euryn on extremely important issues to farmers in Wales. We look forward to the event, especially as this type of medium has not been used before for branch meetings. It’s also indicative of the way we will be using technological advances to conduct business in future."
