Brazil-Cargill new refinery.
BRAZIL.
CARGILL.
Cargill Inc are spending US$100 million, on a new sugar refinery in Brazil, that will be the largest in the country.
The new plant to open in late 2009, will have an input capacity of 2.8 million tons of sugar cane, producing 1000 tons of refined sugar per day.
While so much investment has gone into the production of sugar based bio-fuels in recent years, the refined sugar capacity has not kept up with world demand or increased production.
Cargill have spotted the void in the market and are going to take advantage of the situation, by value adding the product.
Cargill are also big players in the beef industry of Argentina and Brazil, as well as one of the largest grain trading companies and farmers..
