The government of Brazil, has passed a bill to legalize Caipirnha, which is the most typical national drink of the nations 190 million people.

Caipirnha is 20-30% proof in alcohol, and normally blended with sugar and lime, then watered down.

The purpose of the legalizing, is to establish guidelines as to the identity of the national drink. This will be for the domestic as well as the export market.

The sugar cane base, makes it very affordably and plentiful in Brazil, rather like Moonshine in the United States or Poteen in Ireland, the alcohol level varies depending on the Still that made it.


The idea is to regulate the national drink.

Whilst the Ministry of Agriculture, published the official rules on Friday on the ingredients, the report failed to say, the punishment for not complying
