Brazil-Mafrig make beef jerky.

BRAZIL.

MARFRIG NEW ACQUISITION.

Brazilian Giant meat packers Mafrig, have purchased the Permican beef jerky brand and all the related equipment for $25 million cash, from Con Agra.

The deal is rather unusual, while Mafrig own the product they will still retain Con Agra to do the marketing, utilizing the well established market that has been created over the years.

Mafrig will now be in a position to produce the brand, from its beef plants in Argentina and Brazil, which will give them an additional 150 tons of product per week, which can be exported to the USA without restriction as cooked meat.

Mafrig are now the largest beef suppliers to Mcdonalds world wide and recently out bid Tysons Foods on major poultry contracts to the company.

Mafrig also out bid Tysons on the purchase of the largest poultry processors in Brazil, Pena Banca in San Paulo.
