Budding Artist wins top prize in NFU Cymru colouring contest
A budding artist from Pembrokeshire is now running their own miniature farm after scooping top prize in a colouring competition organised by NFU Cymru.
Cai Llewellyn, aged seven, from Letterston, near Haverfordwest, beautifully coloured in a farming scene to win the all-Wales contest. The competition was open to children between the ages of four and seven and was part of this year’s NFU Let’s Talk Farming programme to bring more knowledge to the public about ’food from farm to plate’. The prize was appropriately a selection of model farm toys, produced by the Britains toy company.
The view of the judging panel, headed by NFU Cymru President Ed Bailey, was that Cai’s colouring-in was outstanding. "Cai is certainly an artist in the making. His attention to detail whilst colouring in the farm scene was superb. He is a very worthy winner." Mr Bailey said.
Cai was presented with his prize in front of all his school mates at Ysgol Ger y Llan, in Letterston, Haverfordwest. He said, "I am very pleased to have won this competition and I enjoyed colouring in the picture."
Harriet Lampard from Britains Farm Toys said, "All of the entries this year have been absolutely brilliant and really impressive. The children have articulated perfectly just how much they have learnt about farming earlier in the year. With their prizes they can now put their learning into practice with their own farms!"
