Bulgarian meat processing plant Mekom is to invest €7 million a 2MW biogas plant at its factory in Silistra, North East Bulgaria.
The power plant will be run on waste generated from the factory.
The company also has its own agricultural lands, a feed mill,a modern pig farm, fattening farms for sheep, lamb, cattle and water buffaloe.
The Silistra plant is the biggest and the most modern meat-processing company in Bulgaria with a capacity to handle up to 220 pigs an hour on the modern slaughter line as well as cttle, buffaloe and sheep.
The company produces sausages, dried sausage, hams and other charcuterie products.
