MAPLE LEAF PLANT TO PRODUCE BEEF.

Work is nearly completed on converting the Maple Leaf pork meat plant at Winnipeg, to have a beef line capable of 250 cattle per day.

This number will be extended to 500 cattle per day, say the new owners of the plant Natural Prairie Beef Inc.

The producer owned company, will slaughter their own cattle and market the beef under their own brand.

The first stage should be completed at the end on the month, and the company will bring the plant up to USDA and EU standards for export.

There are 80 new jobs going to be available on completion of the conversion
