CANADA-WHEAT FORECASTS.

Canada forecast wheat and durum acres would decline in 2009-10, while the area seeded to barley, corn, canola and soybeans would increase on the year.

Oats, flaxseed and summerfallow acres were expected to hold steady.

Production of the eight major grains and oilseeds in 2009-10 was forecast at 66.530 million metric tons, below the 2008-09 level of 72.635 million.

Total exports for 2009-10 of the eight major grains and oilseeds were pegged at 32.100 million tons, up slightly from the 2008-09 export projection of 31.700 million.

The 2008-09 export forecast was revised lower from the last estimates in December when exports had been pegged at 31.850 million.

Total domestic usage of the grains and oilseeds for the 2009-10 crop year were estimated at 38.684 million tons.

Domestic usage during the current 2008-09 crop year was forecast to come in at 39.267 million tons, down slightly from the December estimate of 39.497 million.

Ending stocks of the eight major grains and oilseeds in 2009-10 were pegged at 14.050 million tons, down from expectations for ending stocks of 15.425 million tons at the end of the 2008-09 crop year.
