Carmarthenshire NFU Cymru on-farm milk meeting

Stephen James, NFU Cymru Deputy President and Aled Jones, NFU Cymru milk board Chairman, will be guest speakers at the next Carmarthenshire NFU Cymru on-farm milk meeting on Wednesday, 13 November, 2013.

The meeting will start at 11.00am and will be kindly hosted by Mr John Jones and family at Y Graig, Pontargothi, Nantgaredig, SA32 7PF.

The Jones family milk 75 cows on an all year calving pattern at the 50 acre holding at Y Graig, with a further 100 acres of rented land. A Fullwood Merlin robotic milking machine was installed in January 2011 and operates 24 hours a day. Members will have the opportunity to see at first-hand how this technology works on the farm.

Following the tour, Aled Jones will provide an update about the recent work of NFU Cymru in the dairy sector including an update on the current market situation for milk and dairy products. Aled will also be interested to hear your views and answer your questions on dairy related topics. Stephen James will also be present and will provide an update to members on Bovine Tb.

Carmarthenshire NFU Cymru County Chairman, Gareth Richards, said, “We are extremely grateful to Stephen James and Aled Jones for agreeing to come and speak at the meeting and thanks to John Jones and family for hosting it. This meeting is open to all members so I encourage you all to come along to raise any questions or issues you may have.”
