Case IH continues to strengthen its farming solutions with a powerful new all-purpose tractor
Spanning 101Hp (ISO) to 136Hp (ISO), the Case IH MXU range is well placed to handle a huge variety of tasks from heavy jobs such as ploughing or pto work, to multi-talented jobs such as front-mounted cultivation or pumping. Further increasing its ability, the MXU can be specified with one of a range of Case IH LRX front loaders.
Versatility is a key attribute of the MXU and Case IH's all-new turbo diesel engine provides the power to take on any task. Available in both four- and six-cylinder versions, and with two- and four-valves per cylinder, all engines come with sophisticated Bosch fuel management, designed to offer smooth, usable power while remaining economical and of course meeting the latest environmental requirements. Power Management is standard on the MXU110, MXU125 and MXU135 providing an additional 21hp (ISO) on the four-cylinder model and 22 and 25hp (ISO) respectively on the two higher six-cylinder models for demanding pto applications.
Case IH estimates that 50 per cent of four-cylinder MXU's will be specified with a front loader, taking full advantage of the engine's torque and the powerful hydraulics. Three LRX loader options are available from 2310kg lift capacity to 2954kg and a maximum lift height of 4084mm on the largest version, the LRX1300. When combined with the convenience of a power shuttle transmission, the loaders make light work of cyclic tasks, from bale handling to loading grain or manure.
An electronically controlled left-hand shuttle is standard on all transmissions — 24x24 two speed powershift (available on all models except the MXU135),16x16 Semi-powershift and the fully-featured 16x16 Semi-powershift with auto modes.
The 16x16 Semi-powershift offers clutchless speed changes in four ranges as well as clutchless range changes from fourth to fifth and twelfth to thirteenth, allowing power to be applied smoothly and constantly in the field and on the road. The Auto-change package provides automatic shifting up and down within each range based on speed, torque and gear choice, seamlessly changing gear in order to overcome a heavy patch of ground when ploughing or apply engine braking when towing.
Headland Management control memorises changes engine speed, gear, linkage position and control of the electronic remotes for a more efficient operation at the end of the field. Pauses inserted into the sequence by the driver for implement manoeuvres, automatic disengagement and re-engagement of the pto and traction management all allow repeat tasks to be quickly despatched.
The high power requirements of modern implements have not been ignored and the MXU has exceptional hydraulic capabilities to cater for all needs, with 80 litres/min or 113 litres/min available from a fixed or variable displacement system respectively, in addition to 40 litre/min from a dedicated steering pump. This means plenty of power to the remote valves, up to four at the rear and two mid-mounted, even with high steering inputs.
Precision implement control is achieved with either a mechanical or an electronic draft sensing system. Increased lift capacity of the rear linkage is complemented by new geometry that provides greatest lift at the bottom of the range and factory-fitted front linkage and front pto options extends the MXU's flexibility.
A choice of rear pto systems is offered, headed by a three-speed shiftable system with soft start for high inertia equipment, with ground speed pto available on all transmissions.
Front axle suspension and front axle brakes increase the prowess of the MXU both on the road and in the field. The suspension can be locked from the tractor seat for greater control of front mounted implements. Below 1.5 kph the system is automatically switched off to help when hitching an implement or loading pallets. Electro-hydraulically differential lock engagement facility on the rear axle can be extended to auto four-wheel drive with an automatic differential lock system that disengages and re-engages at acute steering angles, such as headland turns.
Riding high on this technological platform, the operator benefits from an all-new cab design with large unobstructed windows and doors, and an exhaust pipe blended into the right hand A-pillar for excellent visibility. The air-suspended seat resides within a suspended cab for isolation from the hardest knocks. With air-conditioning and a practical, ergonomic layout, the cab provides a comfortable environment for working long hours.
Comprehensive feedback of the tractor's functions is provided via the dashboard instruments and performance monitor, integrating flawlessly with balers and other equipment. The Case IH MXU is a true all-rounder with practical ability matched by reliable performance.
