Cattle prices improve slightly but sheep get worse at Cockermouth

COCKERMOUTH'S weekly sale of prime cattle last week, found both bullocks and heifers improving on the week for all classes.

Benson Hewitson, of Shatton Lodge, enjoyed a good day selling Limousin heifers to 139.5p/kg (£736.56) bought by Mark Lindsay, butcher,Cockermouth.

Mr Hewitson also had the top priced bullock at 138.5p/kg (£837.93) bought by Woodhead Bros. Colne.

Prime bulls sold a top price of 112.5p/kg to Dennis Walker, Oxenriggs, for a pure Limousin bull, bought by Tom Bradley, of Egremont.
