Chile-Brewers grain for Dairy cattle.

CHILE.

DAIRY CATTLE.

There have been very successful trials in Chile, using brewers grains mixed with additives, for feeding dairy cattle.

The more ethanol that is produced, the more this type of feed will become available.

This is not new, as brewers grain has been used for winter feed in England for over 80 years. The grain had two benefits in the English winter, it remains warm from the brewing process and is cheap food supplement.

The Chilean Dairy Council, have set up trials on several farms and have been delighted with the results. They have been measuring the milk yields, and the composition of the milk produced.

The United States Grains Council, are very keen to be in a position to export the brewers grain to Chile.

Chile imported 70,000 tons of brewers grain this year, which is more than double the figure of 2007.
