Rural lobby groups are concerned about Chinese Authorities leasing Australian farmland, as this could put pressure on local farmers.

Reports from Beijing say the Chinese Ministry of Agriculture is looking to lease or buy farmland around the world ,to ensure long term food security.

Agforce a lobby group, president Peter Kenny says it could put at risk Australian production and export markets and is a wake up call to the world food shortage.

Chinese authorities placed a ban on all Australian food during the Olympic Games, competitors were not allowed to take their own food, which has always been traditional at the games. All food had to be purchased in China.
