MORE MELAMINE.
Sis men have been arrested and are in prison awaiting trial on charges of addinf melamine to animal feed.
The men are also charged with selling knacker meat (meat taken from animal that died rather than slaughtered used for cat and dog meat)) for human consumption from a retail butchers shop.
When raided by health inspectors, the government officers seized 4 tons of he meat, and it has come to light the shop has been in business for over 6 months.
The men had a knacker truck collecting the dead animals for pet food, however the best of the meat was then being utilized through the retail shop as much as 6 tons a week.
This is not uncommon, as there were two very big cases in England 20 years ago.
The first was Tom Tweed in Whitland Camarthen Wales, who ran an abattoir beside his knackers yard and was in fact the supplier to a meat paste company that is a house-hold name in England.
The other case was Maslem at Crawley in Sussex, who was doing the same with dead horses.
Both cases came up at the Central Criminal Court at the Old Bailey London, Maslem went to prison and Tweed jumped bail and fled to Spain.
