AgFeed Industries Inc., the largest hog producer in China , announced an arrangement to develop a genetics development program for its swine herds with Hypor, the swine breeding business of Hendrix Genetics.

AgFeed chief operating officer Gary Daignault said the company plans to produce 2 million hogs for the Chinese market in the 2010-11 time frame and requires "a robust breeding animal that thrives under all conditions -- a key need in China today."

He said the company is proceeding to stock its Jiangxi Lushan farm with Hypor large white pureline sows, Hypor Landrace pureline boars and Duroc terminal sires to build onto AgFeed’s "Green" certification status for high-quality pork products.
